About Dolphin House Gallery

Roger St Barbe Laughton and Emma Laughton are the proprietors of Dolphin House Gallery in the historic town of Colyton in the Axe Valley (see map below). The Gallery opened in 1990 as a new venue in East Devon for original works of art by contemporary artists. Since then we have held many successful exhibitions of paintings, original prints, textiles, ceramics, etc. produced in the West Country and elsewhere.

The town of Colyton has preserved a special relaxed atmosphere which is remarked on by everyone who comes here. Strolling round the pretty streets, whose circular layout bears witness to the town's Saxon origins, you will find many attractions including the beautiful church of St Andrew with its octagonal tower. There are lots of interesting shops, several pubs and tea-rooms, an oak-bark tannery and of course the famous tramway connecting Colyton with Seaton. We are only 3 miles from the spectacular East Devon Heritage Coast, famous for fossils, wild flowers, birds etc. The Coly valley is part of the scenic East Devon Way, and our unspoilt river, woods and farmland are the delight of walkers and artists.
