MOS Mary Orde Shields, 1928-2001

This section of the Dolphin House Gallery website is dedicated to Roger St Barbe's late mother, an artist who also worked for many years in East Devon. Some images from her first posthumous exhibition (of small works) are shown below.

In 2003 a larger retrospective exhibition was held in the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Honiton, with an accompanying booklet including a biographical/critical article by Professor Bruce Laughton. This booklet complete with illustrations can be read by clicking the image to the right.

M O Shields' "Creation Series": Finally, we reproduce a series of large religious works painted at the end of her life which have now all found permanent homes except for the abstract work Chaos which is available from Dolphin House Gallery.
