MOS Mary Orde Shields, 1928-2001

This section of the Dolphin House Gallery website is dedicated to Roger St Barbe's late mother, an artist who also worked for many years in East Devon. Some images from her first posthumous exhibition (of small works) are shown below.

In 2003 a larger retrospective exhibition was held in the Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Honiton, with an accompanying booklet including a biographical/critical article by Professor Bruce Laughton. This booklet complete with illustrations can be read by clicking the image to the right.

Finally, we reproduce a series of large religious paintings which are currently available on long-term or permanent loan to a suitable institution: M O Shields' "Creation Series", painted at the end of her life. Click on the image far right to see these. For more information on the availability of these works, please contact Dolphin House Gallery, details on the home page.
